Who are we?
We are a group of Dutchies who demand our right to an annual Magic Mushroom experience, which we find a very important occurrence in our lives (read all about it in the About Shrooms section). We are closely connected to the Dutch Smartshop Association (www.VLOS.nl). The VLOS has been sueing the government against the magic mushroom ban. Our readers & the shops helped them with donations. At the moment there is a status quo whith which both parties can live.
What is the legal status of psilocybin products in Holland?
The magic sclerotia are legal. They are a form of mushroom which lives under the ground. Magic Mushroom Growkits are legal as well. With growkits you can grow your own magic mushrooms at home.
A bunch of great reasons why these mushrooms should not be banned:
1) Mushrooms literally expand the mind. They loosen up the paradigms and concepts people are captured in. Shrooms give the user a personal, mystical, insight-giving experience. Several scientific reports reaffirms this (read our science section). Taking this freedom away from people should not occur in a democratic country.
2) According to a report investigating the risks of mushrooms, they are NOT addictive, NOR toxic (for instance CAM/RIVM). Nobody EVER died from a shroom overdose. With the right information, attitude and consumption advice the chances of a bad trip are minimal.
3) After the ban, shrooms will be sold on the street, without information or advice. The number of accidents is likely to rise. The same dealers that would sell shrooms, would also sell cocaine, XTC and other synthetics which are harmful and of questionable quality since they are illegal too. Banned substances have a bigger appeal to youngsters. This is the reason why Holland does not have many marihuana users (foreigners are always amazed that Dutch people dont like to smoke).
4) Shrooms grow freely in nature all around the World. The only Magic Mushroom consumers who are poisoned are the ones who did not buy them in an officially controlled smartshop, but picked them in the woods themselves!
