Mushrooms are banned at the moment. Today we found out that the old, familiar truffles (the philosopher's stones / Sclerotia) however, willnot be banned by the present Ministry of Health. Also the growkits that can grow shrooms remain legal. It has to do with the difficult position the Minister of Health is in: a few lawsuits of the Dutch Smartshop Association (www.vlos.nl, www.saveourshrooms.org), and the scientific reports that reported ‘in favour’ of the psilocybine containing mushroom products.
Minister Klink (Christian Party CDA) answered to the questions of the Parliament member Joldersma (CDA) on hallucinogenic truffles and grow kits (2080910170):

We now know that for Minister Klink a “causal link” has a slightly different meaning than for his lawyer.. According to the dictionary it means: “The principle of or relationship between cause and effect”. But logic doesnt seem to be something these people can cope with.
Minister Klink’s reply on the questions of MPs Van Velzen (SP), Van der Ham (D66) and Azough (GroenLinks) on “magic mushroom incidents” (2080910540).

All civil liberties are at stake in the Netherlands, at the moment. The present governing coalition of orthodox Christians, Christian Democrats and Social-democrats try to rob the Dutch of their traditional small pleasures. A smoking ban, a ban on prostitution, a ban on smoking weed, and a ban on magic mushrooms have been introduced.
Probably more important: even free speach is at stake! The cartoonist Gregorius Nekschot was dragged out of his house by ten civil servants and thrown into jail, for his cartoons.
The cartoonist went to Denmark to report to the Danish Free Press Society about the situation in Holland. As we know, Danish cartoonists had been under pressure by the 'Islamic World'. If the Dutch Government is so worried about Muslims, why do they themself impose their own version of a Sharia on our country?? The Netherlands are slipping back into dark times...

Today we received answers to the 3 questions of the Socialist Party (SP), Social Democrats (D66) and the Green Leftwing Party (GroenLinks) on his lies about the "mushroom incident" with the Frenchman and his dog:
Answers to the parliamentary question from Van Velzen (SP), Van der Ham (D66) and Azough (Green) on the three-time expression of untruth about magic mushrooms (2080907450). Question 1. Do you acknowledge that you have at least three times an untruth told about the incident in which a Frenchman killed his dog? In contrary with the scientific truth (psychiatrist) you kept saying he took mushrooms. January the 13th the National Smartshop Association (VLOS.nl) went to court to demand an emergency appeal against the ban on shrooms. The shroom industry has been slaughtered on lies and unscientific grounds. On January the 18th the court agreed that our case is important and will speed up our appeal.
This appeal followed a VLOS.nl member meeting on 22 december. The meeting endorsed the providing of a mandate to our lawyer and solicitor Mr Willem van der Werf of the office Van der Feltz lawyers to make an appeal at the court of justice by general consent.

The Smartshops say the ban on shrooms has failed because the active ingredients that give the mushrooms the magic (psilocybine) can still be found in other legal products, like truffles. Those truffles have been sold for over 15 years. Apart from that, mushroom growkits are still sold in the shops.
Its not improbable that the Dutch Ministry of Health will soon put a ban on coffee and alcohol. Read the whole article to see why.

Job Cohen, major of Amsterdam doesn't like the national ban on magic mushrooms. After negotiations with delegates of the national government he said he would start execute the national policy in Amsterdam, 'with fresh reluctance'.
Cohen says that he is generally cooperates well with the national government. "But I do not always agree with them. For instance, i think in Amsterdam we have a great drug policy. I don’t think national measures should intervene with this. I will execute the imposed ban on shrooms with fresh reluctance; if i were to decide i wouldnt have imposed it, though.
